Voice against Violence
Being developed in partnership with the National Rugby League (NRL), the Voice against Violence programme will exist to improve awareness of the issues surrounding domestic and family violence through informed discussion and an understanding of personal responsibility.
As an intrinsic part of the social fabric, sport provides a catalyst to positively influence attitudes and behaviours around gender inequality and violence against women and their children.
In year one Voice Against Violence plans to engage with 1,000 young men around New Zealand, through leveraging rugby league as a channel for positive social change.
“ I teach a class of 10 - 11-year old’s, with boys who need motivation in education and literacy. This was a great motivator for them and allows them to be positively involved in a literacy -based competition with rewards that specifically mean something to them.”
