The Dreadnought Civil Charity Golf Day, scheduled for November 15, 2024, at the stunning Rydges Formosa Golf Resort, is gearing up to be an incredible day of golf, networking, and fundraising for two crucial causes: Mates in Construction NZ and the Warriors Community Foundation. Both organisations are committed to improving the physical and mental wellbeing of New Zealanders.
Hosted by Dreadnought Civil, the event invites golfers of all levels to participate in a shotgun start tournament, with prizes and an awards ceremony to follow. All proceeds from the event will go towards the work of Mates in Construction NZ and the Warriors Community Foundation, both of which are making significant impacts in their respective areas of focus.
Mates in Construction NZ has one simple yet hugely ambitious aim: to reduce the number of lives lost to suicide in the construction industry. In 2019, the construction sector had the highest male suicide rate of any occupational group in New Zealand, highlighting the urgent need for mental health support in the industry.
The Warriors Community Foundation delivers programmes that support mental health, literacy, anti-bullying initiatives, and overall wellbeing in children and communities across the country.
Lincoln Jefferson, CEO of the Warriors Community Foundation, emphasised the importance of the event and the causes it supports:
“We’re honoured to partner with Dreadnought Civil for this year’s charity golf day. The funds raised will enable us to continue providing critical support to children and families through our wellbeing programmes. Additionally, supporting Mates in Construction NZ in their mission to reduce suicide rates in the construction industry is vital, as mental health impacts every community. Together, we can create positive change and ensure that no one is left behind.”
Special thanks are extended to Courtney and Sam Pomare, co-owners of Dreadnought Civil, for their incredible support and commitment to this event and these important causes.
